DAT 72 on AIX 4.3.3

I´ve installed a external DAT72 (gen-5, or DDS-5) driver on a SUN SparcStation 20 with Solaris7 and on a HP-715 with HP-UX 10.20 All VERY OLD machines and O.S.
BUT I couldn´t use it ina IBM 43P-150 with AIX 4.3.3. SMIT dod find the HW an I was able to run a mt status onit, but I CAN´T send files neither with tar, nor dump, nor with SAM´s backup utilities. AND I can´t find anything regarding compatibiliteis over the INTERNET.

Does anybody know anything about DAT72 and AIX 4.3.3 ??? Unfortunetly we can´t upgrade to AIX 5.x !!!

hi ,

AM i right in saying the server sees the tape drive on the server as available, when you do lsdev -Cctape
what does it show up as ?
when you tried writing to the device , what errors if any were reported ?

what tapes are you using , what is the block size set to on the tape drive ? try setting it to 0 , if not done so already.
