I know that I have to add the asp.net user to the shared data directory. The problem is that the shared data directory is on another server. So I am not able to add the asp.net to shared data directory to populate the company field box. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

That's not the correct thing to do.

You need to give more details on your setup. What O/S are your servers running, where is the Accpac application running and where is the Accpac data, and on which server is IIS running and so.
The server where the dashboard is running needs to run Accpac as well, is this the case?

the accpac application is running on testserver which has IIS installed on it. Accpac data is on another server. Dashboard and system manager is installed on testserver.

You need to change the application pool identity on testserver:
1.From Administrative Tools, go to the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
2.Expand Application Pools
3.Right-Click DefaultAppPool and select Properties
4.In the DefaultAppPool Properties screen, click the Identity tab
5.Select Predefined
6.From the Predefined list, change to Local System
7.Press OK

Reset IIS:
1.From the Start Menu, select Run...
2.Type "iisreset"
3.Once the dialog window is closed, IIS is reset.

I have done this and there is still nothing showing in the company list. It is still blank.

Troubleshooting Steps for the Sage Accpac Dashboard

Ensure the following steps have been completed when troubleshooting the Sage Accpac Dashboard
1.Install System Manager 5.5 Product Update 1
2.Create a user with the following permissions:
Member of the following groups:
DCOM
IISWPG
Domain Users (If in a domain environment)

Full control of the following file locations:
Sage Accpac Share data folder
Sage Accpac Application folder
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.x\Temporary ASP.NET Files
C:\Inetpub\ (assuming the default location was selected during the install

3.In Internet Information Systems (IIS), ensure Anonymous Access uses the user setup in Step 2.
Right-Click SageAccpacDashboard under Web Sites, and go to Properties. The Authentication Control is under the Directory Security tab
4.In IIS, remove and recreate the Application name.
5.Also ensure the Application Pool has been set to DASHBOARD
6.In the DASHBOARD Application Pool Properties, change the Identity to the user defined in Step 2.

I have done everything as you described and I am now getting Service Unavailable. What did I do wrong?
