DAS or SAN when you have a need for speed?

Hi guys reading up endlessly on this but just want a definitive answer. Which is faster for disk acces DAS or SAN? I know there are other complications to this question i.e. iscsi and fibre but if all was ideal which would perform the best purley on disk i/o?

It all depends on what your needs for the future are, and if you want easy management of your storage.
If you need just a small amount of diskspace, which isn't going to grow, and will not need any management, and you are willing to put in some time when having hardware issues, and you don't want to spend much money,then DAS is the choice to make.SAN storage performs as good as DAS ( 4gbit fc san e.g. ),is more reliable, centralized management,redundant components,...
