Please help me. Buttons in Flash are driving me insane ... i create a flash button, however when i put an onMouseEvent action on it, the action sort of works, BUT when i go back to edit the onMouseEvent action of that same button it is not there .. and the onMouseEvent action option is disabled?!?!!? what is going on?? So then if i want to change the action for that button i have to start all over again just to get the onMouseEvent action to appear.

ALSO this is what i mean by the action sort of working: i have the onMouseEvent action so that on PRESS it goes to a label ... however once it goes there it THEN goes BACK to the start of the scene?!? even though i put a STOP action there. Sometimes on the rollover it will go to the start of the scene even though there is NO action for onRollOver

help!!

Your first question is an easy one. You have to set the actions of the button in the button's properties and not as you're probably doing it by double-clicking the button's instance on the stage - where the on mouse event will be dissabled. Always right-click on your button and select properties to change the actions of your button.
As for your second question... I don't quite understand what you're trying to do here... but it seems curious to set a goto label with a stop action on the first frame. Why don't you just set a goto & play a frame number in the current scne or in another scene?
What are you really trying to do?
