Hi,

Something happened to my computer and everytime I start up IE, I get I have edited all of it out of the registry and it won't go away. Any ideas how to get it to go away.

-Chris

Or run msconfig (or a similar program) and remove from startup the (pirate) program which redefines the home page.

Hi,

I am on Win2k. I tried the the SpyBot program and that didn't seem to fix it. How do I mess with the startup?

IE6 Homepage Rewrite

---------------------------------------------

Have you had problems with sites hijacking your Home Page or other Internet Explorer restrictions? IE Restrictions will remove most common restrictions that may have been set by a sleaze web site as well as other methods. I do not guarantee this will remove all types available as there are just too many to put in one program but this will take care of 24 of the most common ones. Of course you can also use it to set any restrictions you'd like to have on your PC.

Browser Hijack Blaster

Browser Hijack Blaster protects your system from browser hijackers and spyware that alters your Internet Explorer
settings.

Running silently in the background, Browser Hijack Blaster only springs into action when an attempt is made. It watches and protects the following items:
IE Homepage, IE Default Page, IE Search Page, BHOs

---------------------------------------------

Windows 95 and 2000 do not ship with MSCONFIG, so you will need to download Startup Control Panel ( ) by Mike Lin which does a much better job of managing startup programs than MSCONFIG. Download the standalone version).

Hi,

Tried all of those. No Luck. Any other ideas. Ive done Norton AV, System Works, AdAware, Spyder Programs, the whole nine yards.. and I just dont want to format. Any ideas?

Have you checked the obivious? In IE, Tools, Internet Options and made sure you have changed the address there to the home page you want?

Hi,

Did the obvious thing in Internet Explorer. Any other ideas?
I am getting really frustrated with it.

Ok download free programee from following site, unzip it and then run this programe, it will uninstall every file related to Explorer. But make sure you download IE on your hard drive so after removing ols Internet Explorer then you can installed from saved file, i hope it will work

Hi, I followed your advice, but there was no dll with this file length.
But... there were 2 dll's with the modification date from yesterday in c:\winnt (I use W2K)

One of them with filename EFMCNFYU.dll, so I unregistered those dll's, deleted them and had
full success !

thnx for pointing into the right direction.

regards
/ferry

Just a quick question - how do you "unregister" a DLL?

TIA

Thanks FeeryHemsbergen. Your instructions were the only one that worked.

This issue should be resolved by going too add ,remove then uninstall IE,when the window pops up hit repair

Have you tried to change your startup page. (Tools/Internet Options/Home Page)?

hey....i have had that same problem for the past two weeks and finally got rid of it all. i used LAVASOFT (AD-AWARE 6.0) and it did the job for me. i tried just about all those other threads said and still had no luck. i also used a couple of ideas from the following link from microsoft support. (lavasoft ad-aware is what did it for me though. good luck.

USE OPERA

When I browse dubious web sites to see pix of hunks in bathing costumes (and without!), I use Opera which, not being part of the OS, is a snip to uninstall and reinstall if anything goes wrong. I love Opera (now v7.11) and reserve IE for occasional use on 'respectable' web sites. I frequently scan with AdAware as a precaution. If Opera does go 'bump', it simply restarts and picks up where it left off. A similar case could be made for Netscape but I like Opera which has some nice usability touches.
