I have two mailbox 2010 ENTERPRISE servers. They are both in my DAG and I have been able to add database copies in the past.

Just today I tried to add a DB copy on the passive server and I get this error "The database on this server wasn't able to operate because the number of mailbox database copies on this server exceeds the supported limit."

Anyone have thoughts on what might cause this.

Okay, you mention enterprise servers. Is it EXCHANGE enterprise or just Windows Enterprise?

Also, check
Code:
Get-MailboxServer | fl name,MaximumActiveDatabases

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.

Both are enterprise. The maximuactivedatabase is blank which means it is the default. I seem to remember that it defaults to 5 for exchange 2010 standard and I am starting to remember now reading that we have to set this ourselves on enterprise. Could that be my problem?

Thanks 58Sniper, I bumped up the maximumactivedatabase number on my two dag servers and updated the failed-suspended copy and it went to healthy status.
