Hello,

Running Solaris 9 on a old Sparc20server... Had been runnig great for a while until lately I'm getting the following messages in the console and in the /var/adm/messages.. We really havent changed anything on the server... The only thing we changed was that some users received new workstations that run windows xp... Here is the following messages:

Mar 19 07:49:57 galaxy statd[436]:[ID 859811 daemon.warning] statd: host ipv4.128.44.1.102 is not responding
Mar 19 07:50:27 galaxy statd[436]:[ID 859811 daemon.warning] statd: host ipv4.128.44.1.19 is not responding
Mar 19 07:50:57 galaxy statd[436]:[ID 859811 daemon.warning] statd: host ipv4.128.88.30 is not responding
Mar 19 07:51:27 galaxy statd[436]:[ID 859811 daemon.warning] statd: host ipv4.128.88.1.107 is not responding
Mar 19 07:51:40 galaxy statd[436]:[ID 295310 daemon.warning] statd: host ipv4.128.88.1.17 is not responding

I see about 20 of those messages... Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks - BC

statd is one of the NFS daemons; are you actually using NFS? Are clients accessing it from Windows? Do those IP addresses correspond to Windows clients... and if so, are they "new" workstations?

If you are not using it you may as well stop the NFS services.
