hi

Using Delphi 5 Enterprise.

Just booted up a colleague's computer to compile my program on it (he's on holiday) and all the pallettes have gone (and the components).

There's only the Standard pallette left with one component (Frames) on it.

I've had this problem before and I think I ended up reinstalling Delphi. What causes this problem and can it be fixed without reinstalling?

Just found out what the problem is. I'm logged in as Administrator and Delphi was probably installed with the user logged it. A bit annoying really, thought Administrator would have been okay.

It's all about the registry entries. If you do something that blows away Delphi's registry values, such as reinstalling Windows, or such as Windows corrupting your user profile and thus forcing you to build a new login, that's where you'll wind up -- only the one component available.

You can get a valid set of registry values set up by running the Delphi install and choosing "registry values only". It gives you a scary warning or two as you do the install, but it all works fine. -- Doug Burbidge mailto:dougburbidge@yahoo.com

Thanks, Doug - printed this out and put it in my 'useful bits' folder.
