First off I know a lot of you guys don't see a use for this product, but my customer wanted them so I put them in as requested. They liked the idea of being able to have wireless without a third party product involved.

The problem I have is that if I try to assign the Retrieve Call feature to function keys F1-F8 it does not work. It will let me assign the feature but it does not work. I have assigned other features and they work fine just not Retrieve Call. Retrieve Call is in the documentation as a feature that can be assigned so it is a valid configuration.

The Retrieve Call is a big reason they wanted the phone so the warehouse manager could grab calls on the warehouse floor. In the customers eyes this is a major fail by Avaya. A new product missing basic features.

If anyone has any ideas or work around I would appreciate your input.

The system is on 8.1.65 and I have not tried the new 8.1.66 yet to see if it has any impact on the issue or what else it will break. I fear that I will be forced to buy the "Upgrade jig" from Avaya to upgrade the phone firmware if it is not system software related. It looks like a simple jtag hookup, but I am tired of crappy software costing us money.

End of Rant

It is correct that the documentation states that you can program the function Retrieve Call on a D160 button.
But are you sure that it is the Retrieve Call function that you are looking for ?
That function is according to the Manager help file:

"Retrieves a call previously held to a specific ISDN exchange slot. Only available when supported by the ISDN exchange."

I guess that you should try with some Pickup feature instead ?

Yes retrieve call is the function I am looking for as it states in the D100 SIP Wireless Terminal User Guide:

Retrieve Call - The Retrieve Call feature lets you retrieve parked calls - RCall

I used it manually to retrieve calls before I tried to assign it to the button.

I made a error in the version number of my original post, the new one is 8.1.67, but I have not tried it yet.

I was out all day on an install yesterday, I am going to call Avaya today and seen what they have to say. I will post my findings

I now understand what you mean and I have tested it on our system and I can also verify that the feature RCall is not working if the feature is assigned to a button. The feature works if you just choose the Feature button and then scroll to the RCall feature and use it that way. But that is not as User friendly.
I could make the CPark feature work on a button, so we are half the way :)

Regards Lodde

My testing showed the same. I was able to assign a CPark button to the phone and use it. Like you said it is not very user friendly and some customers a very dense and refuse to try and learn how to use this stuff.

If you are having the same issue its a bug then and its easily reproducible for proof and testing.

Thanks for the verification.

Just to update anyone who runs into this issue. I was at the customers today and I found a very simple workaround for this issue. If you go into user settings on the D160 and turn function key labels to off it will allow the call retrieve feature to function correctly from a user programmed button.

The function key label is useless anyway, so its no big loss.

Hope this helps someone.
