Hello all,

A friend of mine has a 6xx D-Link wireless DSL router at home and uses it to connect two notebook computers to the Internet.

Since the 26th of December, he can't connect to the Internet. He contacted his ISP and they told him that his connection is being reset every 1:30 minutes.

They suggested that it might by some software that's doing it, but he told me that nothing new is installed on the machines. He also told me that this happens if some of the two notebooks tries to access the router, no matter what.

Do you have any ideas of what this can be?

Thank you all.

Regards,

First check the vendors website (D-link) and make sure he has the latest firmware for the router.

Second, verify that the router is not going/gone bad.

Do/verify the same things with the DSL Modem.

Try going straight into the dsl modem with one of the laptops (considering they have NIC's). If you can get connectivity this way, then there's probably something in your router that's causing the resets. As strange as it may seems, I've seen this happen because of a bad AC Adapter feeding the router.

Check all these things then post back.
