I have a Windows 2000 system installed on a Compaq 633 with 128MB of Ram. It did not pick up the D-Link 530 TX NIC card during the installation but upon adding the driver from D-link, the system becomes unstable and will not respond to keyboard or mouse clicks. What could be the problem? Any help would be appreciated.

If the card is plug and play (most everything is these days) and it doesn't detect it at startup or after running the Add Hardware Wizard then it could be that the card isn't seated all the way or that it's bad. My roommate just had trouble when installing a D-Link card. The salesman said that a lot of the time people bring them back because they didn't push hard enough seating it. This one, however, was in fact bad. So you could try reseating it and even a different socket if that doesn't work. Don't push so hard that the mobo bends significantly as it can damage it. If that doesn't work, I would just exchange it. Maybe it's a theme with D-Link :). Good luck.
