Just recieved D-Link Airplus XtremeG+ (DWL-G520+) Wireless PCI Adapter and AirPlus XtremeG+ (DWL-2000AP+) Wireless Access Point.

Installed the adapter into a brand new Fujitsu Seimens P300, i845GV PC with XP Pro version 2002 SP1, fully patched from windows update.com.

Card and Access point work a treat until I come to shut the PC down. Just when the machine should power off the following error message occurs and the system hangs (blue screens): -

***Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity check / Memory Parity Error
***The System has Halted***

This only occurs when "turn off" is selected and not when "resart" is selected.

I am using the latest (only) drivers for this card.
My system BIOS is using most current version.

I have tried the following: -
different cards in different PCI slots
disabling the onboard network adapter

After searching the web for this problem I see many postings for this very same problem for different dlink hardware devices. I spoke to technical support about it and they tried to blame XP. It cannot be XP because the OS works perfectly without the card and shuts down correctly.
They also tried to tell me that I should reinstall all networking protocols such as TCP/IP for XP. But the Networking works perfectly, even for the Wireless network. I also have no problems running over CAT5 LAN.

You know they know about this problem but they do not admit it. I was informed that the Taiwan team are working on new drivers as we speak, and this would be reported to them. As this is a new card then these problems should be expected. I do not agree. Anyway, enough ranting.

Does anyone know if their is a fix for this problem or should I send the kit back. I wonder how long it will be until new drivers are released and if they will even fix the problem. I have to install the WLAN next week and really don't want to be giving them kit that crashes, even if it is on shutdown.

Thoughts?

fixed the Problem...

Changed the d-link kit for Belkin Wireless. It works perfectly. I will not be using D-Link or recommending their hardware to my clients in the future as well. Have to say, technical support tried to help but it was out of their knowledge base so were clueless.
