Hello I recently purchased the D-Link AirPlus G DI-524 Wireless G Router 802.11G

What I want to do is, have the Router in my home office main floor, and connect an AP to my Desktop in my Bedroom.
Does the AP have to be connected directly to the Router?

Thanks

does the wireless/usb adapter in the bedroom desktop not connect properly to the wireless router now?

Dave

The easiest way is to connect the DSL/cable modem directly to the router this way you computer downstairs wont have to be on for you to connect to the internet upstairs. You should be able to plug your downstairs computer into the router using a standard RJ45 wire. The upstairs computer will need to have have wireless NIC to connet to the router.

dneufarth.....I get disconnected periodically from the net.
I checked for any wireless interference like cordless phones.

tylerdurdan66......I have a wireless router....DSL connected to the WAN port on the router and the dowstairs computer to the router on port 01 with a usb antenna connected to the computer upstairs.
My problem is upstairs it diconnects sometimes from the net.
So.....I was thinking on putting a wireless Access point upstairs.
But my question is.....can I connect this Access point to the NIC card on the upstairs computer.

Thanks

Buy a hawking HSB1 and screw into the nic card in the upstairs computer where the attena screw in. Assuming you have a wirless connection with an unscrewable attena. This device is about 60 dollars and will increase the signal by 10 times. I got an adapter and replace each attenas on my linksys wireless router and am ammazed at the signal strength improvement
