cyrus-imapd and port 143

I installed The cyrus-imapd package on FC3, then:
chkconfig --level cyrus-imapd on
chkconfig --list
I get:
cyrus-imapd 0ff 1ff 2n 3n 4n 5n 6ff

but still the server does not have a service running on port 143 (imap).

any help ?

chkconfig controls what happens at boot time. You need to manually start the service if you don't reboot. 'service cyrus-imapd start'. If you do that and it still isn't running, check you logs for errors.
