In the October 2007 CPU mag review, Cyberlink & Roxio got 3 stars, Pinnacle & Ulead got 3.5 stars.

I own Roxio, Pinnacle, and Ulead and while Roxio definitely is the easiest to use, Pinnacle has the most features. After spending hours recoding video, though (pre Core 2 Duo), I bought a Sony DVDirect and now do real-time copying, although the editing options are limited.

Ah , I was curious as one review I looked up a while back had Cyberlink Power director with all the features other programs had and much cheaper. I figure it should work for what im going to be doing.

I used to do video editing for a church using Adobe premiere. I started to get it again but for the price they want, not happening. Will be around next summer when I start getting the stuff. So every now and then im posting threads getting back caught up on this stuff and getting peoples opinions.

I plan on making actual computer video building tutorials. Something ive wanted to do for a while.

I appreciate the response and any other info you have to give.

Depending on what you're trying to achieve I recommend TMPGEnc DVD Author from Pegasys. I have an old version (1.6; the latest is 3) and am very impressed with it - it's a great way of getting video clips in a range of formats turned into a standard DVD and is pretty good at creating menus and so forth.

If you don't want to make DVDs then they have a whole bunch of other applications all of which are similar but different, assuming you can navigate the rather baffling site. There are time-limited trial versions for all or most of them.

Yeah ive used tmpg before. Very good program. Yeah I will be doing a mix of putting videos on dvd and also putting some online. Ill probably hire a webmaster at the time as I hate doing webpages. I used Tmpeg to convert a few things I had for DVD.

Im also at the moment trying to remember the name of a company that at the time had some really amazing graphics that I was never able to use as we did not have the money at the time. Im thinking they were called along the lines of digital effects or some other name. That being the company name anyway.

Update on this thread. Just recently bought the program and im loving it. Works great once you add the patch they have out. Actually worked great before that, just locked up with the dissolve transition. Either way once you have the patch applied it runs smoothly. Also im enjoying the real time transitions. Once you apply them they are ready to go. No rendering at least that I can see.

Its a bit different then Adobe Premiere so I had to figure some things out but once you do its pretty smooth running. Overall im highly pleased and impressed with the program.

Ill be able to give it a full length test this summer when I start capturing and other things. As of for now I got a video from a friend from our church and have been editing it.

Well I just ran into a problem with it. Emailed customer support and am waiting a response. Everytime I go to produce (export it to a video type) it crashes. So we shall see what happens.
