This morning one of our customers complaint that they were not able to connect to the 3300 web interface for making a few move and changes. Ping to RTC always present in less that 1ms.

We noted that as soon as we disconnected the ADSL RJ11 cable from their modem, access to the web interface was restablished...

If pluging cable back in, access to 3300 was lost as soon as ADSL sicronized.

We replaced controller, moved ibutton and soon as the the 3300 synched with AMC, web interface lost again... Guys any idea what is happening.

Is this possible to be an AMC fault??

Regards,

Daniel

Sounds like an IP addressing issue, either a duplicate address or an incorrect gateway IP or subnet mask somewhere.

danramirez, where does the ADSL modem fit into the topology? Are you able to Secure Telnet into the RTC with the modem connected?

When the customer is trying to make changes how are they routed? I agree with Lundah that it sounds like some kind of IP problem. Are they using the IP address of the controller or trying to use DNS by any chance? Is there a primary and secondary DNS server assigned. It like with the ADSL out of the picture the GUI request is trying to use the ADSL to reach the 3300 but since its not there it defaults to a route that takes it to the 3300. When the ADSL is in place the GUI request gets sent out the ADSL and can't reach the 3300.

my guess is that the packets that would normally be going to the controller are being routed out the ADSL

Alternatively, the replies are being routed out the ADSL.

Either way, communication fails.

My assumption being that the Data LAN is on a separate network than the voice and your routing statements are flawed.

AN IP conflict would more likely take down voice processing and you would have more serious issues than you are reporting.

Quick test is to place a PC on the Voice LAN and see if the issues can be duplicated from there.

Agreed. When the ADSL is present it is seen as a path and the attempt to access the GUI is being directed to it. When it is removed it is seen as a path out of service so the secondary routing is allowing it to reach the 3300. Therefore there must be someting in the routing on the site. Not sure but would you be able to do a tracert to find out what it is doing?

oh yes, the I didn't do anything fix, I know it well.
