I have just started working with the Mitel VoIP system, so please forgive me if I leave some important information out of this question.
In our Headquarters office we have a Mitel 330 ICP and in our Regional Offices we have a Mitel 3300 CXi Gateway. All are running software version 7.0.9.5.
All of the offices are connected together using a private network using Avanya routers.
In the Headquarters office, I have been able to use the layer 3 switch to perform routing tasks, no big deal.
In reading the documentation, my understanding is it is possible to have the 3300 CXi gateway to point to itself as it's gateway. And, any networks which are not listed in the routing table are sent out the WAN port to the rest of the network.
1. Is my understanding of using the 3300 Gateway as its own gateway correct?
2. Has anyone done this, and if so, what pitfalls should I be aware of?
Thanks, and if any additional information is needed, please let me know.
