Hello,

One of my IBM P55a servers decided to allow the fiber card to fail and now I cannot see any of my SAN LUNS from the CX300. IBM are due out in 30 mins or so to replace the fiber card, can someone let me know the steps for bringing the LUNS back online please?

I believe it's just a case of re-zoning the server on the switch with the new WWN from the new fiber card and then re-register back on the CX300 then I think I just need to reboot the server and all the LUNS should be available again, does this sound right?

Cheers

Nick

You had only one fibre card or all the available cards failed?

If you had only one card then, you need reboot the system, select SMS menu and option no 4, at that point the WWNS are flashed on the Fabric (Switch).

If you have redundant fibre cards then, you need to replace the failed card (assuming its hot swappable). You need to run cfgmgr on the system and new card is detected, then run #lscfg -vpl fcsX | grep -i net, give it to SAN team they will add it to switch and then to storage.

Your second sentence is correct for all fibre cards down, for redundant system you don't have to reboot.

Hello,

Yes, just the one fiber card as they did not want to spend the money for two at the time of purchase :-(

I have now had the card replaced, re-zoned the server and re-registered it on the CX300. Once that was done I was able to get all the powermt devices recovered and the only issue I have now is the logical volumes are still closed after I varyonvg'd the volume groups:-

Are you sure they were mounted?
Is that oracle DB server with raw volumes? as I am not seeing any mount points.

If so, you don't have to do anything, oracle will take care of it.

Hello,

yeah, they were mount points and I have got them all up and running now :)

cheers
