CVS Recomendation

I'm researching the possibility of installing a CVS for my group. We're looking for something simple that enables check-in and check-out, and keeps a few versions of the file. We deal with a lot of flash files, so I'm looking for something that's friendly with .flv's. There are only a few PHP programmers, so the code remembering features aren't as important.

My question is, what CVS would you recommend that's easy to install and use for about 7-10 users? We currently have a 200GB drive that's just a network appliance that we'd like to hook into a box running a CVS. Any recommendations?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by `which CVS'. CVS is particular version control system. Others include Subversion (free) and Bitkeeper (proprietary). I'm not sure whether you're asking which version control system we'd recommend or what CVS clients we'd recommend.

You don't mention what operating systems are in use in your company. Setting up a CVS server using SSH to authenticate users is extremely easy to do (on a *nix box anyway - I haven't set it up in Windows) and is much more secure than using a pserver. To connect to a CVS server from Windows, I'd highly recommend TortoiseCVS (

http://tortoisecvs.sf.net).

From *nix, it's easily done from the command line. Most IDEs support CVS also.
