I need to be able to batch process an operation within acrobat or photoshop that involves cutting a page of text in half (cutting horizontally at about the halfway point). The page is a single layer pdf of a scanned, not ocr'd, page of text. The problem I have is how to avoid cutting a line of text in half.
I need to retain the orginal image, but cut in half.
I toyed with OCRing and leaving the original image as the top layer, using the hidden ocr image as a guide as to line breaks but I'm still struggling. Any ideas, pointers, suggestions, brainstorms will be welcome.

The easiest way is to just open teh thing in photoshop, select the first part you want and copy. Then start a new photoshop document and paste. Repaet for the lower half.

if you want to make it easier blow up the original doc in photoshop so it's easy to place the marquis tool exactly between lines.

I have to do sort of teh reverse all the time. I have to scan in newspaper articles, which usually exceed teh size of the scanner. I'll make two scans, top & bottom. Then put them back together in Photoshop, reduce to fit letter size paper and export a pdf.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately I need to batch process this, to do it automatically, without a person having to move the line. I need to somehow figure a way for the program to identify where there's text and where there's space.

I could be wrong, but I think this will have to be done manually. A scan is seen as a graphic. That would entail using X-Y positioning but its not common for lines on scanned pages to line up X-Y exactly.

I'd think that working on the original scan would work by selecting teh top half of the page and then the lower half. If your scanner software allows you to save these as presets, it would be feasible - as long as the lines on original pages line up.
