I have a Cut/Copy/Paste problem with Publisher.

I transfer my church's monthly newsletter to their web page. The newsletter is created in Publisher. I recently upgraded my computer but used the same software versions (Publisher 2000 & Office 2000). All patches have been applied for both softwares. I use to be able to copy and paste the text from Publisher directly into the web page program (Dreamweaver). After the upgrade, if I try to paste the text into the web page, it doesn't show up. The page stays blank. I have to open MS Word (or notepad), paste the text there, then copy/paste into Dreamweaver. Very cumbersome.

The church secretary now tells me that she is having a similar problem. I recently reformated and reloaded her machine. Everything is working fine except Publisher. Before the reformatting, she would cut/paste text from Word documents into Publisher. Now, if she tries to cut/paste, nothing happens. She has to retype the whole document. All patches have been loaded onto her computer as well. The program works fine otherwise.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Thank you.

Maybe it's a Windows clipboard problem and not specifically Publisher...does cut & paste work with any other programs?

algraff ::)

Have you thought about completely uninstalling MSPub (including any remnants in the Program Files\Office\publisher folder along with references to MSP in the registry (CAREFUL!)), THEN reinstalling Pub (without adding any patches). Does cut, copy, paste work on a fresh install? If it doesn't, I'd look at the OS to be sure it is stable and up to date. If C,C,P works, then add each patch singularly and verify C,C,P is working before adding the next patch. It could be one of your patches is the culprit.

(Patches? Patches? We don't need no stinking patches!)[shadessad]
