Hi All,
Recently cut and paste (ctrl-c & ctrl-v and menu options) have stopped working. It seemed to happen after installing the newest version of
FoxcodePlus (Beta 3.13.2) but I'm not sure for sure. However, I have another machine where Foxcodeplus is installed and there are no problems. I can
still copy and drag. Cut and paste continues to work fine in all other Windows applications. VFP is the only app affected. The menu options for cut and paste are still available, however, nothing happens when I try to use them. I'm using Vista with all updates installed. Any ideas? Thanks. John

John, does the problem occur absolutely everywhere in the development environment, or just in certain parts of it? For example, does it fail to work: in the command window; when editing a program file; in the Properties window; in subsidiary tools such as the wizards, code references, options dialogue, etc?

And does it only fail with text, or with things like copying objects in the form or report designers?

What happens if you highlight and copy some text in a Foxpro editing window, and try to paste it into another application? Or vice versa?

The reason I am asking all these questions is to attempt to narrow the problem down to some specific set of circumstances that might be causing it.

Mike

Hi Mike,

After trying what you suggested, it looks like COPY and CUT are working within VFP for both Text and Objects.
It is the PASTE that is not working. However, if I CUT or COPY within VFP and go to say, wordpad, CTRL-V (Paste) will work.
Objects like form objects always work for cut, copy and paste.
Neither can I Paste text FROM another application.

So, it looks like the only thing that is NOT working is Pasting of TEXT using either CTRL-V or the VFP menu for paste when inside VFP.
Thanks John

I just have to add: If you use CTRl V as hotkey of a menu item or popup, even, if it's not active, this will override the Paste functionality.

As you ay you have installed FoxCodePlus Beta, make sure it does not have such a hotkey item.

Bye, Olaf.

Mike, CTRL-V is not working in all instances for text. This include all code screens, command window, edit of code in forms, reports, modify file, field inputs, etc.

Olaf, Foxcodeplus Beta is working along with Paste on a different computer.
Thanks, John

Thanks for the replies. I have found that if I unplug the keyboard (USB) and plug it back in, CTRL-V will start working again. I'm thinking it has to do with an add-on for Mozilla Firefox, but still haven't determined which add-on is affecting the keyboard.

That's interesting. But didn't you also say that the Edit menu options are not working? That has nothing to do with the keyboard.

Regarding Firefox, it's true that it's possible to tell it to disable the context menu, but that's done through Javascript for a specific web page, rather than via a plug-in. In any case, a Firefox plug-in can't affect FoxPro. You can verify that by running FoxPro without running Firefox. Or, if that's not possible for any reason, you can run Firefox in safe mode, which disables the plug-ins.

But I really can't imagine that the problem is caused by either of those factors (Firefox or the physical keyboard).

Mike
