Good afternoon everyone!

Running Crystal XI

I am running a merge document between Excel, and Word to generate a list of id's. Once the list is generated, I copy from word and drop into the record selection expert. The merge fills in like so: "id","id",etc...

When I paste it into the correct spot, it tells me that "a number is needed" The funny thing is that if i go and replace the "" in the record selection it will read. What is worse is that i can paste it as is into Crystal 7 and it runs fine. Can anyone help?

Why not paste in an example of what you're using including the entire record selection statement rather than trying to describe it?

here is an example: Notice that the quotes look like they are in italics....when I manually replace them the code works.

“K01266SRG2”,“K01266SRG3”,“K01266SRG4”,...,“K10276SRGZ”

That is not a formula that is a list of values. Please post the entire formula.

here is the formula from the select expert:

{Details_2006.jrnl_id} in [“K01266SRG2”,“K01266SRG3”,“K01266SRG4”,...,“K10276SRGZ”]

The issue is the characters used for the open and closed quotes. The simplest solution is probably to paste your list into the record selection formula and then use the find and replace function to replace the two characters.
