Good day,

We're running Accpac 5.4 and S/N 5.3B SP1.
I'm currently looking in our RMA procedures and would like to implement these into Accpac.
The built in RMA seems to offer pretty much everything I want.
They only thing I'd like to change is the point in time as to when I can print the RMA customer form.
Accpac for some reason only lets me print the RMA customer form after I have received the item.
To me it makes a lot more sense to print the report after I've assigned a RMA number. I can then send the RMA form to the customer and he adds a copy of it to the return shipment.

The RMA customer form only shows RMAs which have a certain status I assume. Is there a way for me to change that status so it also shows me assigned RMAs?
I don't think that's something I would do in Crystal Reports so it probably has to be done in the OCX file?
How would I change this OCX file?

Any help appreciated.

You cannot change the OCX, so open up that report in Crystal and take a look at what you see.

This isn't directly related to your question but I saw that you're using Serialized Inventory. Sage is looking for client's who would be willing to send their databases to them for testing with the upcoming 5.6 release. Here's the original request:
We badly need customer databases that use Serial Numbers or Lot Tracking. We re-writing SN and LT for 5.6A to completely incorporate them into Inventory Control. As a result there is a large conversion from the existing database to move all the data into I/C. If you have a customer that will help us with this testing, please email me at Stephen.Smith [at] sage.com. The customer will need to sign a document allowing us to have their data and allowing our QA department to test with it. They will perform the conversion and then run a few transactions to ensure everything is working ok. As a benefit to the customer, they will know that this conversion has already been tested for them and will make their transition to 5.6A run smoother. We really want to make sure we test with all the various options customers set and with historical data accumulated over several versions.

Hi tuba,

I've customized the report already. But thats a pointless exercise if the data selection dialog you open before you actually go ahead and print the report is set to hide exactly the data I want to print with the report.

I had a look at the OCX in VB but there isn't any code - just the layout of the selecion window. Guess the code is in some dll?

Thanks DjangMan. I'll contact Stephen and see what he says.
Might be already to late as 5.6 is due to be released in 3rd quarter? Let's see...

That request from Stephen is only a week or two old. If they find a problem then they might hold the release and fix the problem first.

I would open that report and see what it looks like. Sometimes you end up re-creating the report so that a different type of transaction runs the report. For example, many OE users want to print a report that looks like an invoice but is really reporting on an order. So if the data exists in Accpac to print your RMA paperwork but the status is different then you can make a copy of the report and edit it.

Getting a front end for your custom report is likely going to be the hardest part. You can customize the existing front end to capture the user's selections and then run your own report or create your own from scratch. Too many options to describe all of what you could do so I'll leave the ball in your court for now.
