I've been searching for an hour and cannot find any information on how to change the "Domain\user name" text on the Exchange 2007 OWA forms based authentication page.

Does anyone know how to do it? Thanks.

Are you looking to make it so its just user name and password? If so you can do it via PS or in the EMC by selecting the OWA feature and going to properties, under the authentication tab you can change that part there, the restart IIS.

If you want to edit the actual page as I see youre a programmer then I have no idea :)

I'm trying to edit the actual page's text so it just says "Email Address". Our users may not know what "Domain\user name" is.

Thanks.

You can't use email address. You can get it to use user name instead of domain\username as Cory says and most people tend to do that.

If your users don't know their username then they must be worse than mine.

It's just not possible that they're worse than yours, buddy. :)

Microsoft Exchange>Server Configuration>Client Access>Outlook Web Access>Properties>Authentication

Change the bottom section to USER NAME ONLY, and pick your domain.

Keep in mind this is a per CAS setting, so if you have more than one CAS, you need to change it on each.

My question is to know whether I can change the text on the page.

I'm not trying to turn on authentication or whatever and yes, you can use UPN.

To clarify, lets just say I want to change "Domain\user name" to "Enter your stupid name here:".

As with previous versions of OWA, any changes you make would be overwritten as soon as you install any related hotfixes, service packs, rollups, etc.

Just as an FYI, when you change the authentication settings, the text on the OWA login page does change accordingly. If you correctly configure UPN, the login page says "E-mail Address:"

Thanks 58sniper. We actually encoutered a loss of all our customizations when we applied the Exchange 2007 SP1 rollup hotfix. However, our CIO still wants us to change the text to something else. He also wants us to change the "Connected to Exchange Server" text at the bottom. We're prepared to have a backup of the layout always available in case hotfixes are required to be installed.

Is there any way to change it?

Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend restoring files from backup if a hotfix (or whatever) overwrites them. You'd be replacing a newer, updated file with an older one, which may cause problems.

You'll have to reapply any customizations every time.

You might look into the segmentation and customizations that became available as part of SP1.
