How do I change the defaults for the left navigation bar SharePoint Portal Server 2003?

When SharePoint was initially set up I had the following on my left nav bar, which matched the options on my top menu bar.

Topics
- Resources
- Strategy
- Projects
- Locations

I have since changed the top menu bar using Create Sub-Area and Manage Portal Site, but I can't get rid of it from the left nav. How do I do it? I'd like to replace it altogether.

Thanks

Under "Manage Portal Site", you should be able to control what's in the nav tree. You should be able to remove or control the visibility of anything in the tree through this page.

Thanks Phil

I use Manage Portal Site to control what's in the menu, and hence what's in the navigation tree after a user clicks on a menu option. But so far as I can tell I can't change what comes up first time.

Thanks
