I am trying to replace the Cognos Connection Welcome Page with a customized one - as well as the public folders page.
I have been searching through the manuals, but not having a lot of success on finding what I need to do (especially since I do not want to crash out what it already there. I have looked through the directories, but not everything is findable by a search. Any help, hints, page numbers, threads, direction, etc would be most appreciated!

Thanks,
Don

I know there is an icon called "New Page". It's usually located in the upper right hand corner area. You have to be in the "public folder" or "my folders" to view the icon. The icon is a white looking folder with two light grey boxes in it.

Create a “New Page” by selecting the icon.
Once you create a new page, you can set that as your welcome page.

Choose Preferences > Home Page > Select “New Page”

I hope this is what you were looking for.

Thanks for the reply - although this works well for me and my own browser, it will not work for the problem I am trying to solve. What I am trying to do is replace the Cognos Connection page for everyone - when they connect to Cognos Connection ($WEBLOGIC_ROOT/user_projects/domains/$CRN_DOMAIN/p2pd) with a custom page which would have buttons or drop down lists to run the reports directly. The user would not have to know which package or folder the report resides in. My attempts thus far have not been very successful. Additionally, I have to leave in the capability to go to Query Studio on the new page - but I am required to load the correct model without the user selecting a package. Any helps/hints/suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Don

I'm sorry, that I do not know how to do. The Cognos Connection page might be a xml or xsl file. I do not know xml but you might be able to change it there if you can find the page.

hi,
this is the xml file that takes care of your cognos connection.
........\Cognos\crn\templates\ps\portal\system.xml
by making changes to this file you can change appearance of your portal.hope this is useful for you

Julie and san26 - thanks for the replies, encouragement is always helpful! This site is really good because people like you, take a minute to respond. The response may not be the solution, but it is quite often the start of one, or another idea to try or as in my case, has got me to articulate the problem better and think about it in slightly different terms. I only wish I could know if others were following this thread - I would be more dilligent about posting the solution when it finally arrives. Thanks again!

Thanks,
Don
