Hi all

Does anyone know whether it is possible to customize the user object fields in Active Directory.

For example, I would like to change the OFFICE field on the General tab (of a user object) to read 'EMPLOYEE NUMBER' (Or whatever). The column heading would need to read EMPLOYEE NUMBER too.

I realise that this might require some heavy customization. Is this possible to change in quite a large AD forest?

Cheers

You can make modifications to the ADUC views and you can also add custom fields to the Schema, but be careful on that as you can not remove the added fields later.

There already is an Employee Number field in AD.

The active directory cookbook shows you how to do this.
Something else that would be of interest:

I hope you find this post helpful.

Ahh, thanks for the info..
We just have to associate EmployeeID with our user objects.

Cheers
