Greetings:

We recently had a situation where a customer record was deleted through the AR Customer Maintenance Application (ARCUSFIL_SQL). The odd thing is that there was an open order for this customer. In fact, after the customer was deleted, the order picked.

Macola will not allow you to delete a customer record if an order is open yet this has happened. I tried this in our test company and it wouldn't let me do it.

We are running Progression SQL 7.6.300C on W2K3 Server. Has anyone run into this? If so, how did you resolve the issue?

Thanks,

Chris Poulin

Re-add the customer.

Anyone with SQL enterprise manager or MS Access can go under the hood and delete records. Are you sure this is not what happened?

Also do you have the audit trail turned on in AR setup? If so run an audit trail on this customer to see who deleted it. If you do not see a deletion record, you can be 100% sure that someone did this outside of Macola.

Thanks for the reply. I should have let you know that I DID run an audit trail report and there WAS a delete record. I confirmed this with the salesman who did it. My concern is that Macola let it happen with an open order against that customer. It shouldn't have been allowed.

Are there any other places I can look to find out why this might have happened? As I mentioned in my previous post, I tried this again in our test company and it would let me do it.

Thanks,

Chris Poulin

I tried this and cannot do it. The message "Customer has open items in Order Entry -- Cannot Delete" came up.

Are you running modified source code? What is the date, size, time and version of the arcusmnt.dll in the macsql\bin directory?

I got the same result as you when I tried this in our test company.

We are not running modified source code. We do have a flex mod but that shouldn't make a difference.

Chris,

Were you, or were you not able to delete a customer in your test database? You have conflicting posts on this issue.

Where is the flex code? In OE or on Customer Maintenance?

I not able to delete a customer in the test company. I received the same "Customer has open items in Order Entry -- Cannot Delete" message that you did.

The flex code is basically a special commissions due report that combines the commission info along with line item detail for the invoices on it. It looks at the OE history tables and the commissions due table. It also updates the commissions due table. So I don't believe it should have any bearing on this situation.

Since I cannot reproduce the problem, I may have to let this one go.

I found a scenario where you can delete a customer with an order. If you start an order, select the customer but HAVE NOT tabbed to the 2nd page, you can delete the customer. You can still go to the 2nd page of the order and complete it. Once the order is in, you can open it up and modify it without getting any errors about the customer not existing.

Once I went to the 2nd page of OE however, I couldn't delete the customer.

I would check the datetime stamp on the order header audit trail and the customer maintenance audit trail to see how close they appear.

Also given Kevin's findings, check to see if there is an OELINAUD_SQL record at all. I suspect there is not.
