I'm looking into creating a customer E-Comm. site that is integrated with the Great Plains data base. Can anyone help me identify some of the usual problems? I'm guessing I'm not the first to attempt this. We looked into the e-comm package provided by GP and have decided that it didn't fit into our vision.

Thanks,

You could use the eConnect product and link your data fairly easily, but it is an expensive module, but it using Biztalk server, so if you're familiar with that this module can do so much more than integration manager). One of our clients used Integration Manager, then setup ODBC connections to the source database, then integrated those transactions into GP on a scheduled basis.

Thanks, but I'm looking to avoid buying more GP products. I was thinking I could just hook into the GP database with and ODBC connection then figure out what the tables/columns were used for.

Thanks,

Download the Great Plains SDK. It has descriptions of all tables and columns. We have constructed many direct to table integrations and they work quite well. You need to be careful to maintain data integrity, but with the SDK you have all the tools you need.
