Is there a way to do two custom sorts. For Example, I have a column headings called Months, and week. The option does not let me sort by Months and then by Week. I am sure there is a way. Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

If you follow these steps, you should have no problem:

1) Highlight the range, including the headings.

2) From the menu: Data - Sort

3) In the Sort window, it should default to showing "Months" under the heading "Sort by".

4) Below are two additional sort options, both named "Then by". Under the next "Then by", click the down-arrow, and choose "Weeks".

For Months and Weeks, it should default to "Ascending order" - which is likely what you want.

5) The next heading is "My list has"... "Header row" "No header row". "Header row" should be checked off, and this is what you want - because the range you selected includes the header row.

6) Click OK.

I hope this helps. :) Please advise as to how you make out.

Dale,

Thanks for your help, but the results of the sort is not what i wanted. I would like to sort if possible first by month, and then by week. When I tried it your way this is what result I got, maybe I missed a step. It looks like, it only lets you do one custom sort at a time. For example: If you have any other suggestions, let me know. Also It is a small spreadsheet if you like to take a look at it. Thanks Dale for all your help.

Hi Mark,

Yes, indeed, I would like to have a look at the file, and I'll be glad to modify it to meet your objective(s).

Anytime one can eliminate guessing by dealing with the actual model, it will definitely save time - at both ends.

If you like, I can also demonstrate how easy it is to extract a copy of the data to a separate sheet, where it can be manipulated (sorted), while leaving the original data intact. Extracting the data can have additional benefits, like having separate "report formats" (headings, etc) already set up for different types of extractions.

Please email me a copy at BOTH my locations, so I'm sure to get it ASAP.

Regards, ...Dale Watson
