Custom Screens - How to store during update 1

I am trying to prepare for the future and it is my understanding that when installing updates we lose our custom screens. I was reading the SM User Guide and saw that I could export screen sets. My question is: Would I export the screensets somewhere for safe keeping and then re-import them after an update??
 
Update to ES? This is the only place I know of where you lose your custom screens. A normal upgrade to the next service pack does not make you lose your custom screens.

Are you aware of copying the modified screen in Progression to user MACOLAED? This means you do not have to copy it to all the users and groups.

I will have to inquire regarding not losing screens because every time we have upDATED I am asked about the screens and have at times had to redo them. Is there something in the updating process that asks a question or has a selection ...anything at all you can think of?
 
No, I am 100% sure updating will not do anything to modified screens, and there is no prompt about it. By updating, I mean applying the service pack to an existing install by means of a CD or .iso file.

How do you update? What steps do you take? If you follow the instructions and don't do anything crazy like reinstall progression, you will be fine.
