Hi guys.

I know there's not a lot of activity on this forum, and I have a few questoins re: generating custom reports in MS Project 2010.

Some example questions are:
How many hours did department put into this project? (by person)
How many hours did we take to produce this project for this client?
How many man hours did this take?
How many hours did Project Management spend on this project?
What subcontracting have we done over the last 6 months? What’s subcontracting costs are coming up?

I noticed this forum isn't the busiest for "MS Project" related questions. Is there a busy forum out there that would better suit my needs?

Thanks very much for reading - it's appreciated.

The reporting features in Project 2010 are not nearly as strong as they are in Project 2013 - so I guess my short answer is to create views (tables) showing the data you need and then filter looking for the specific data and then print the view to PDF.

Most of your questions appear to revolve around work - so assuming the following settings you should be able to get the data you are seeking:
Create the named resources in the resource sheet.
Enter the Department in the Group field
For subcontractors - use the group field for subcontractor name or use the Resource Phonetics field for this.

For How many hours did the department put into this project (by person)
Create a custom group in the Task Usage view grouping by Resource Group (assignment) then by Resource Name (Assignment) them by Task Name. Show outline level two and you will see total work by Department (Group) then by Resource, and still be able to see specifics about each task as needed.
For How many hours did we take to product this project for this client
Ensure the Project Summary task is displayed - and show the work field. This will show total Project work.
For How many man hours did this take
This is the work value. Same as above.
For How many hours did Project Management spend on this project?
Is "Project Management" a resources?
For What subcontracting have we done ver the last 6 months?
Answered in by using Resource Groups. Apply the Cost table to the resource sheet to see total costs per resource.

I hope this helps.
