Does anyone know of a external report writer package that we can sell with a compiled paradox9 application in order for the client to write his own custom reports from the tables in the application? Does paradox(corel) have such a package or should we look at something like cristal reports? Is it possible to open these tables via ODBC in Access without losing our relationships?

lemonjuice,

Because you're using Paradox 9, you should be able to use any report writing tool that supports ODBC connections. However, you'll want to use the ODBC driver provided on your Paradox 9 CD's and not the ODBC driver provided with MS Office.

If you have the Developer's Edition of Paradox 9, you should have a redistributable license for the driver, though I would check the CD for more information.

Hope this helps...

HAve you tried Lotus Approach?
Unfairly derided as a database app, Lotus Approach is a great front end for databases, and Paradox is no exception.
You need to be in Paradox 4 format which Approach reads as native.I use it as a friendly interface for reporting from Paradox. The cross tabs and drill downs get me through to core data from complex summaries as well as Crystal, with much better search faciliies.
In the UK we get Lotus Smartsuite 97 as a cover disk on many PC magazines; so buy a dozen mags and you have mutiple legal copies for about £5.00 each! And a mag to read (12 times!)And Lotus Approach is a great little database in its own right. You cannot lose!
THe problem I do have is in networking. You can point the Approach system at The PDOXUSERS file to allow shared access; but strange things happen. It may be just me, though. If you write a query that pulls the data through to dbf format (III or IV)Approach reads it happily, even with multi access..but you lose real time reporting.
