I have custom fields that are dates. I can't get them to display in the gantt chart view. Is there some setting that allows custom fields to be viewed?

Thanks

James

James:
Presuming you want to include the date somewhere on the Bar Chart (vs seeing it on the table side of the View):

1. Go to Format, Bar Styles... (make sure you pick Bar STYLES - which changes it for the entire chart, vs. Format, Bar, which changes a single bar on the Gantt chart).

2. Select the type of bar (ie Task) for which you'd like the date to appear.

3. In the Bar Styles dialog box, select the Text tab.

4. Click on the area of the bar in which you'd like your custom date field to appear (Top, bottom, left, right, inside). A drop down arrow will appear to the far right of that field. Use it to select your custom date field.

5. Click OK.

By the way - you can use this process to add any field available in the drop down list to the Gantt chart...

Hope this helps!

This seems to work but not every time. The custom fields I am using are Start1 and Finish1. I would like the dates under these fields to show up in the bar view. I went to format, bar styles and added a bar style With those fields as from and to. The dates don't show up in the bar view.

Thanks for your help

James:
If I understand correctly, you added a new bar, and then set From = Start1 & To = Finish1. What that should do is use those dates to determine where the bar displays on the chart.

To get the actual date to print... you have to do as I explained in my previous post.
In Bar Styles, make certain you select your new Bar.
Click on the Text Tab
In the Left option - select Start1
In the Right option - select Finish1
Click OK.

Note: Where your "New Bar" is located in the list of Bar Styles can make a difference. Bars can overlay each other (example, Progress bar on top of Task bar), so if things are not appearing as you wish, try moving your "New Bar" lower in the list.

Hope this helps!
