HI.

I am looking for any information regarding the use of formulas within custom fields. I have read all the help, however, it only discusses the format and I would like to review actual uses of the code. I have searched the web, but there does not seem to be a lot of information on formulas.

To give you a bit of background, I am trying to evaluate if there is text within a field and if so, transfer it to another field. Transferring is easy, I'm having a problem evaluating if there are contents within the field.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

I think you treat it as a boolean function and use the field name alone in the espression block of an If statement. If anything is in the field it should evaluate as true.

I have a similar need, but I need to strip off and diplay the numerical unit value from a material label field into a new quantity field. Any ideas?

I'll post this as a separate thread.

If the boolean function does not work try an isNull function.

For P2002

Tools | Customize | Fields

Click "Custom Fields" tab.

On the right, select "type" (which includes cost, date, duration, etc.).

Click on "Formula" button.

Stoplight colours can be implemented using Graphical Indicators.

It's really quite straight forward, isn't it?
