Because the basic templates that come with Sidekick 98 do not have enough fields I created 3 custom templates (Personal, Business & Web) each with the maximum 30 fields. I copy the Cardfile templates to the userdata folder & rename them as necessary.
There are times when I'd like to have more than the 30-field limit but... overall the flexibility of the Cardfiles & Fields is probably the main reason that I've used & stayed with Sidekick 98.
As a precaution against losing any Sidekick data I make it a point to copy the userdata folder to a backup folder on another drive daily. This makes restoring the data to a new or existing installation very easy-- just copy those backup files to the userdata folder of the new installation.
Note: If those userdata files were copied to the userdata folder from a CD-R be certain to change them from read-only by: selecting (left-click) the userdata folder, select all (Ctrl-A) files, right-click on those selected files and select Properties then uncheck the Read-only checkbox.
