Bufftek: I may have a tool for you ...

I have a routine that we developed that scans parent sales items and their attached children (modifiers) to create a new sales file specifically for inventory purposes.

The process creates a new item that joins the parent and child plu as a new plu. It also rolls up additional amounts charged for these mods into the parent. So a Grey Goose [1234] as Martini [2345] ends up as a new sales item 12342345 that shows the total charge. Often there can can be additional zero priced modifiers. I ignore these. There is a master cross reference table that allows you to control matches.

Other good examples are size mods and side dish options. Obviously a martini uses almost twice the spirits as a mixed drink, and likely different from on the rox, up, etc. This tool creates an item export list with quantities and prices that matches what was sold, not what was entered.

Please feel free to contact me through my website,
JM

Thank you for the consideration.
I have actually got this far by means of python unless you actually combine multiple modifiers to a single parent item. I'm still trying to determine the best way to fully link ALL modifiers as I'm not fully familiar with all of Aloha's DBF's.

Let's talk when you have a minute. I've dug deep into dbf's with out tip and gratuity software. Multiple recurring modifiers could be handled by assigning a fixed digit position to represent each option and reserving those positions when those modes are not used. My contact is on my website.
