cursor turns into TV-snow

Can anyone tell me the cure for the infuriating bug which causes the mouse pointer to suddently, without warning, turn into a square, about 1.5x1.5cm, which I can best discribe as looking like a the 'snow' interferance on an un-tuned TV screen?

I've tried installing/uninstalling cursor schemes and generally playing about under 'mouse' in 'control panel', but this has no effect. The only answer is to re-boot.
Any ideas, please?

This is more video driver related, not mouse related. It's a video anomoly, but manifesting on cursers. See if there's an update to your video card's drivers. ________
