Ok...this is sort of dumb but it is driving me crazy! I have not done anything to my comptuer within the last week. But suddenly my pointer is jumping all over the place. Well ok actually it is staying sort of in place but more or less shimming. In fact a couple of times went to point to a link and couldn't because I couldn't get the arrow or hand right there. Gads it almost as bad as those horrible ads that shake all over! Any ideas on how to stop it? Believe me any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Oh and this is on a pc using xp home edition.

Thanks!!!

Maybe your mouse speed is too fast. You can change the speed in the "Pointer Options" tab in Mouse Properties (accessed through control panel). Your tabs and settings may be a little different if your mouse uses proprietary software.

Also, if you are using an optical mouse and running it on a textureless pad, the optical sensor may be having problems correctly detecting your mouse's motion. Try to run it on a pad with clear texture (like even a checkerboard pad) or simply on your desk with no pad.

I'm still a little unsure as to what you mean by shaking all over the place. Is it wobbling even when you are not moving your mouse at all? Or is it simply too fast?

Actually it was wobbling even when I was not touching it. And I did try changing the speed etc. Appreiate your help. But I finally figured it out! I had plugged in my Wacom pen/board and had forgotten it. As soon as I unplugged it everything was fine! Don't we just love computers!! Thanks again
