Curser jumping, leading problem, large document

I have a medium to larger sized doc that might be corrupting slowly or something. When I highlight some text that I want to apply leading to (say 8.4) I try to type that into the leading size pallet and the curser jumps from the leading size pallet back to the text box and I end up deleting my text. I can use the leading up and down buttons but cannot type in a specific size.

Anyone have any probs with bigger documents and if so have you had any success fixing them or cleaning them up. This is a directory type doc with lots of pictures so on.

Generally, when an Adobe app starts behaving badly you should trash your preferences. You'll find many discussions in this forum for trashing ID prefs.
