I have a CR10 report published on CE10.

On the report I can put the 'Current CE User ID' on the report and it will print when viewed.

What I need to do is use this info in a formula at run time, to select records.
I don't fancy asking the user for their user name again, seeing as how they JUST entered it to login to their Citrix session. CE already knows it, I just want it to share that info with my report.

The report is published on CE & viewed through ePortfolio.

Has anyone tried it?
Anyone have any ideas as to IF it can be done, or how (preferably).

Thanks.

Peter.

Hi,
Have you tried any ways to do it?
( Like a record selection formula something like:

If CEUserName = 'Smith' then
{Dept} = 210 else
If CEUserName = 'Jones' then
{Dept} = 220 else
{Dept} = 100

)
What were the results?

Yes it can be done. This sounds like prime use of a Business View filter. Or you can embedded the field into a SQL Command object as a parameter, etc.

Turkbear,

Quite simply, I hadn't. I knew of the Special Fields value external to the Formula Editor, which, when copied, merely gets pasted as text.
I guess I didn't look well enough inside the Formula Editor.

cmmrfrds,

Thank you, exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks,

Peter.
