Currency symbol looks like a box

I'm not sure why, but out currency symbols, $, look like boxes.

Any ideas or comments?

I'm using String.Format("{0:c}", price).

Maybe the font you are using doesn't have that symbol. We can't be sure though unless you provide an example.
