Curious HP Printer Network Issue

I have a problem printing over a network ... I can ALWAYS print one document in any application, but the next time I try to print ANYTHING it freezes up - the only solution being to go to the PC the printer is attached to, STOP the SPOOLER and then RESTART SPOOLER. Details of set up is below. I would be really grateful if anyone has any ideas why this would be happening?

I have an HP Laserjet 1005 installed via USB to a machine running Windows 2000.

My laptop connects on the network to this machine and prints over the network.

I have Zone Alarm installed but configured to let printing occur

I have latest printer drivers installed for both machines for the Laserjet 1005.
