right now I am on SQL 2005 & GP 9

because of all of the ribbon user interface 'stuff' on GP 10 and some other issues we will not go to 10 'till late fall... We are getting ready to virtualize a number of our servers and I have the opportunity to go to SQL 2008 within the next month.

SQL 2008 is going to buy me a number of other development opportunities and I know that MS says GP 9 is fine on SQL 2008, but I just want to be sure that reality is close to what MS says...

so - anyone got any experience with GP 9 & SQL 2008? more curious than anything

thanks in advance for the input!

From a support perspective Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 is not currently supported on SQL Server 2008.

I don't believe that will change.

What that means is that it has not been fully regression tested on SQL Server 2008. It will probably work fine, but if anything does fail because of SQL Server 2008, it will not be fixed.

thanks you two - I figured that GP would go just fine and COMPLETELY forgot about Frx (just another reason for me to finish our change to SSRS I guess)

I would be curious to see if FRx is just not supported or if it does not work... maybe a test box is in my not too distant future.

Jymm,

From what I have read in the FRx newsgroup, FRx will work on SQL 2008, but it's not officially supported.

But now you're adding multiple things that are not officially supported. Which means, technically, that if anything goes wrong, you may be on your own. :-(

wont be the first time I am on my own - we also use eGP as well as Req Mgmt (and the list goes on & on)... and since we did not like how things were handled, we (I) kinda wrote my own views/triggers to get the data how WE needed it.

not to worry - no financial transactions were harmed in the writing of these programs... I loved our last Audit when they firm came in and said 'wait - our last client also had GP 9 and did not have the capability to show us that info - how come you can'... and the CFO said 'Jymm is the reason'... made me smile!

:) Fair enough. And absolutely, that is a great compliment from the CFO!

If you do decide to test out and/or move to SQL 2008, please post back to let us know how it goes. I would be very curious to hear your findings.
