One of our old H80 with AIX 4.3 ML09 works for 1274 days without reboot! Impressive!

$ date
Fri Oct 28 08:01:53 CUT 2005
$ uptime
08:01AM up 1274 days, 21:31, 18 users, load average: 0.19, 0.16, 0.15
 
Warm rebooting would probably be ok, but I'd be a bit queasy to shutdown/power-off/power-on it... You never know: a power supply might not like that very much, or your disks might fail to spin up.

That's impressive. I've had some over 600, but I don't think any of them have 18 users.
 
Lets see a Win server with the same stats...

Wiz is right on. I powered down after 2.5 years (moving colos) and low and behold, disk failures...

Nice to see though...
 
So how often is it recommended that you reboot assuming that a crash doesn't force the issue?
