We recently upgraded our work in process equipment to RF Data collection Terminals. The total length from the front to the back is about 1000 ft.
At the further most location, I have a dumb switch that has an Access point connected. Moving back thru the building two more of these dumb switches at approximately 275 ft then 300 ft then to the server room 250 ft. where they are connected to a 4th sever. Four switches total. At the switch next to the server room, I have two more switches that are attached to other building the distance approximately 100 ft and 300 ft. (6 total switches.).
The problem is that intermittently the RF terminals will loose there connection to the server. There are 60 RF devices. A site survey has been done before and after the Access Points were installed and coverage problems have been eliminated from the equation.
We suspect that the total distance from the furthest Switch to the server is the Issue. I do not want to recommend any changes unless we have good information regarding this. I can only find material that speaks to server to switch cabling (100 meters). I cannot find information that talk about the cumulative total length in my situation.
Can any one guide me or point me to a source for information.
