Cumulative Incremental of NB for Exchange server fails

Hi All,

I have been experiencing a certain problem with NB4.5.

I have created a policy with 2 schedules to take the backup of the exchange servers. One schedule is for full backup & the other is for Cumulative Incremental.

The Full backup goes through fine but the Cumultaive Incremental fails with the error "file open failed(12)". For your information circular logging is disabled on the exchange servers.

Hope someone can help me out.

You need cicular logging turned on - Also, Database backups should never be incremental as the full backups are the ones that delete archives etc.

I don't know if you are using Exchange 5.5 but we have the same problem. I found a technote on veritas that does descibe the problem and a solution to it. We decided to make only full backups of exchange.

What version of exchange are you running? If it is 5.5, please double check and make sure that you have SP4 installed for Exchange.

Thanks everybody. I have switched to Full backups daily for the exchange servers. By the way it was Exchange 5.5
