Greetings,

Can the CUCM 8.x RTMT tool be used to see the digits being dialed by an extension? If so, can you please provide the tabs and brief instruction?

Thank you!

You mean real time? No. You will need to pull CDR records after the call is made or monitor your gateway if it is an external call.

Unfortunately that's one of the few tools most sorely missed in our transition from Mitel to Cisco.

However, if you know the extension that made the call and you have the 3rd party "Phone Remote" software from VOIP Integration dot com, you can quickly & easily remote-in to the phone and look at the call history screen.

Your only other option is to go to the phone and physically look at the history, which if it's been erased (or cleared) then you're back to digging into CDR.

Thank you for the input... yes I meant Real-time. When you mention monitor the gateway - what do you mean and how can this be done?

It appears that the DNA (digit analyzer) service allows for realtime dialed digit motnioring if you have a MAC or DN to reference to - any thoughts on this feature?

Thank you again!

For the dialed number analyzer you will need to log in to your CUCM then over on the right hand side of the main screen use the dropdown box to select Cisco Unified Serviceability, then from that next screen under "tools" you will find the dialed digit analyzer. Basically you type-in the digits and the analyzer will tell you the path the call will follow, assuming there's a matching pattern.

DNA is not a monitoring tool. It is a testing tool for dial patterns and the routes they follow. Troubleshooting tool.
By gateway I mean the voice gateway that you Telco lines terminate. It is CLI command operated but you can monitor outbound calls real time from there.

What are you trying to do? Maybe if you tell us your exact need we can point you the right direction.

thank you both for the input! very helpful... here is the reasoning:

once or twice, some time back I worked with a remote team on a couple projects and during the sessions I was dialing digits on an IPT phone. While I was dialing, the engineer mentioned that he was able to see the digits i was dialing (it appeared to be real-time)... i did not ask what tool he was using and it could have been the Voice Gateway that he was looking at...

I'd like to understand what utility/method he was using to see the digits being dialed and try it myself...

Thank you again!

greetings.. just checking in to see if gateway commands are available that could provide (as real-time as possible) visibility into digits dialed... also digits rec'd from telco would be helpful!

thank you!

CCMJGB, the commands you're looking for are dependant on what type of phone service is coming into your router. PRI, PoTs or SIP?

Example for PRI
term mon (turns on termal monitoring service)
debug isdn q931

after your finished with the debug you'll want to turn them off. Undebug all.

Once the call is placed you'll receive the output. You can't see per digits dialed but you can see if the router is sending out the calling information correctly. Now pair this with DNA and you have a powerful trouble shooting tool. I haven't seen a realtime per digit dialing feature on Cisco. If you come across one please post it on this thread. I would be interested in it as well.
