Hi,

I have configured a Talkaphone VOIP-500D SIP phone in CM per manufacturer's instructions (see attached PDF).

Button #1 dials extension 298
Button #2 dials cell phone (815095551212)

Button #1 works perfectly fine. When pressed you can hear the phone dialing and once connected you can have a two-way conversation.

Button #2 when pressed you can hear the dialing but no two-way communication. The end-user on the cell phone is unable to hear the initiating user and vice versa.

The only difference between button #1 & #2 is the target (cell phone vs local extension)

Has anyone ran into a similar SIP phone issue?

All and any help is welcomed :)

Rob

Try enabling Media Termination Point on the SIP device in CUCM. I had the same issue with a similar Talkaphone VOIP device which I believe was the VOIP-500K. After enabling MTP, it worked soon after on external calling.

Thanks for the tip. Let me give it a try and get back to you.

I went to Media Resources > Media Termination Point and found an existing MTP named MTP_2. MTP_2 has the correct Host Server and under device pool has Default chose. Not sure if "default" is built by the system or created by the admin. Either way, I went to my SIP device and enabled MTP.

The call went through and I was able to two-way talk. However, theirs a loud squealing noise that is heard as well. Sounds more like a call quality issue.

Any thoughts on what might be causing that?

Thanks for leading me down the right path.

Rob
